Wauwatosa Election Results
Referendum Results (previous discussion of the referendum here and here):
The binding referendum to reduce the size of the Common Council from 16 to 12 members and introduce limits of 2-consecutive 4-year terms was approved with 5,082 YES votes (50.02%) and 5,077 NO votes (49.98%). If you didn’t want to reduce the size of the common council or impose term limits but didn’t bother voting, you should probably feel some regret.
Alderperson Results (previous discussion of candidates here and here)
District 1: Andrew Meindl beat Chris Kemble with 965 votes (74%) to Kemble’s 339 votes (24%).
District 2: Margaret Arney ran unopposed and received 952 votes (99%).
District 3: Joseph Makhlouf II beat Patricia Stone with 575 votes (51%) to Stone’s 543 votes (48%).
District 4: David Lewis beat Ian Beck with 805 votes (65%) to Beck’s 432 votes (35%).
District 5: Sean Lowe and Rob Gustafson tied with 702 votes each. An article from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says that there is one provisional ballot that was received but not counted because the indivual did not provide identification. This person has until 4 p.m. on Friday to bring a photo ID to City Hall so their vote can be counted. Otherwise, the race will be decided by coin flip. Nail-biter.
District 6: Joe Phillips beat Margaret Fritsch with 920 votes (52%) to Fritsch’s 834 votes (47%).
District 7: Amanda Fuerst ran unopposed and won with 546 votes (98%).
District 8: Melissa Dolan beat John Larry with 653 votes (56%) to Larry’s 502 votes (43%)
